Speaking about recent developments in the case involving Hank Winchester, Chief Prosecutor, David Williams stated:

On the facts of this case, it was concluded there was no cause to file any charges against Mr. Winchester."
According to The New York Post, Hank Winchester's home was raided by the Beverly Hills police on June 13, after a person came forward with an allegation of s*xual assault against him. Hank Winchester is an Emmy-winning investigative reporter who currently works at WDIV News Station, but he is on administrative leave following the allegations against him. The Help Me Hank host is married to Oakland County Circuit Judge Jacob Cunningham, who was elected to office in 2018.
According to the official Oakland County Government website, Cunningham graduated from Oakland University in 2007, after which he pursued a law degree from Western Michigan University. He passed the state bar exam in 2012 and began working as a judicial clerk for the now-retired judge Wendy Potts.
According to Downtown Publications, in 2019, he began his tenure as a family court judge, becoming one of the first openly gay judges in the Oakland Circuit Court.
Reflecting on what pushed him to pursue a career in law, Cunningham said:
"Something clicked midway through. It does fascinate me. Being involved in trials lit up my brain. I loved being here. I loved solving problems, the research. It totally excited me, and I knew I wanted to keep doing this.”
When asked about how he approached the cases brought before him, Cunningham stated:
"Whenever I drive to the courthouse, I drive past Lady Justice, and I’m reminded that this is a really important space that means so much to the citizens who have their cases here and need to have their literal day in court. Especially with the pandemic, they’ve waited a long time. There’s an awesome responsibility for the 20 judges who are responsible for the almost 1.3 million citizens of Oakland County."
He further talked about the changes he has been observing on the bench.
“The last few years, a lot has changed on our bench. [The bench] look a lot like what the community is comprised of. It’s very diverse in terms of ages, race, gender.”
It is not known when Hank Winchester and Jacob Cunnigham tied the knot, but according to reports, the couple has been together for several years. Hank Winchester was also present when Cunningham was sworn in, back in 2019. The couple shares a daughter, with whom The Morning After podcast host often shares pictures.
Hank Winchester also released a statement after the charges against him were dropped, expressing gratitude for the love and support he had received during the two months since the allegations against him surfaced. He said:
"I'm thankful this investigation is over. The allegations made against me were outrageous, unfounded, and defamatory. Throughout my 24-year career in Detroit, my mission has always been to help the community I love, protect you from bad actors, and fight for justice. I will always fight for you—just as I've recently had to fight for myself."
He further stated,
"I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has shown me tremendous support, especially my family and friends. The messages from so many of you greatly helped me through this incredibly difficult time."
Kelly Stafford, who co-hosts The Morning After podcast with Hank Winchester, also released a statement of support for him on her Instagram.
