Actor Jonathan Bennett posted an update about his husband Jaymes Vaughan’s health struggle. On August 10, the Mean Girls actor shared an Instagram post, writing that Vaughan suffered from a condition called Schatzki ring.

Bennett mentioned that his husband had difficulty eating, and he would throw up for a major part of his life. However, the actor wrote that Vaughan had a procedure done that fixed his condition. Sharing a video in which Vaughan was seen eating, Bennett wrote:

“This is the first time over the over 3,400 meals I’ve sat across from him where I didn’t feel like he was fighting for his life just to get through it.”

In the caption of the Instagram post, Jonathan Bennett wrote that Vaughan suffered from the condition throughout his adulthood. Explaining it, he wrote:

“A Schatzki ring, also known as a lower esophageal ring, is a ring of tissue that forms at the lower end of the esophagus, near where it connects with the stomach. It can make eating incredibly difficult.”

He said he shared the information, hoping it could help someone who had the same condition as his husband, but didn’t know for many years. He encouraged people to talk to their doctor and ask questions because it could improve their lives. Jaymes Vaughan had a meal as he asked Jonathan Bennett:

“Oh my God, babe. Is this what it’s like when you eat and it goes down?”

In a separate video on his Instagram account, Jaymes Vaughan compared his health situation to the high-school science experiment volcano. He said:

“I would eat and as soon as I took a bite of food, it would go down and it felt like that volcano was in here and pushing it back up.”

When did Jaymes Vaughan and Jonathan Bennett get married?

Jaymes Vaughan and Jonathan Bennett have been married since 2022 after their engagement in 2020. On June 2, the actor shared a photo of them sharing a kiss. In a lengthy caption, he shared that one of the first photos he took kissing his husband was when he was still afraid because he hadn’t told everyone he was gay yet.

Jonathan Bennett mentioned that over the past nine years, his life had changed a lot, and he felt thankful for becoming the person he was. He said living openly, proudly, and true to himself had been the most powerful choice he ever made. Bennett further wrote:

“All the things I was feared about coming out never happened. In fact the exact opposite happened. My life flourished and all the doors opened that had been closed for so long. So wherever you are on your journey, know that I see you and I support you.”

He went on:

“My advice, life is short, live your life the way you want, and never apologize for who you are. Because you are never too much, and you’re always enough.”

On March 19, Jonathan Bennett celebrated his third wedding anniversary with Jaymes Vaughan. In the caption, he wrote that there were a million more years to walk with his husband.
