Former Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo, often called The Honey Badger, has been dating Heidi Berger since 2021. Heidi Berger is the daughter of Gerhard Berger, a former Austrian Formula One racer, and Portuguese model Ana Corvo. Heidi was raised in a racing family, with her father having worked for Ferrari, McLaren, Benetton, and Arrows. She, like her older sister, Sara, entered the modeling industry through their mother.

Berger grew up in Monaco and speaks Portuguese, English, German, and some French. She later studied in London, Lisbon, and New York City.

Despite being surrounded by racing her whole life, Berger pursued a different profession. She decided to pursue acting after high school, and she spent a gap year in London studying theatre before relocating to Lisbon to pursue it full-time.

Her first breakout role came in 2016, when she played the role of Nônô in the Portuguese soap opera A Única Mulher. She then reappeared in Trakehnerblut, Meiberger: Chasing Minds, Três Mulheres, and starred in the mystery thriller Onde Está Elisa? (2018-20).

There are no publicly confirmed details of how the couple met or when they started dating.

It is speculated that they started dating as early as 2021 after being spotted together in New York and then were then spotted on a helicopter trip.

They soon went public in August 2022, when Ricciardo posted Instagram photographs from his California trip with Berger and her friends. Ricciardo even revealed in an interview on Fitzy & Wippa that his relationship was "serious" and said:

“Yeah mate, I’m in love, I got a good thing going, so yeah. I’ve got a good balance in life right now.”

He even mentioned that he was a fan of his girlfriend's father on the radio interview:

“It’s funny, I talk about [racing] with him. He still goes to quite a few races. He still has an interest in the sport and he still does some business with it.”

The couple often posts glimpses from their life, from their California & the Alps hiking trips to their Hawaii surfing, to beach visits in Spain, birthday celebrations at Tokyo Disneyland, and even romantic trips to Italy.

Daniel Ricciardo's life after stepping down from F1

Following the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, Ricciardo retired from Formula One with 257 starts, eight victories, 32 podiums, and three pole positions. In subsequent interviews, he has discussed utilizing his time for contemplation, describing it as a moment of "self-exploration." He has kept a low profile since stepping down.

Daniel Ricciardo, who headlined Ray White's Connect conference, was interviewed by veteran sports broadcaster Mel McLaughlin on life after Formula One. He said:

“Well, I haven’t been shaving my face. The beard is my comfort right now. This year has been a bit of self-exploration. I lived this crazy high-speed life for so long, and this year I’ve sat into a little bit of stillness."

He added:

“I’ve had a lot of time, I’ve done some hiking. I was in Alaska a few weeks ago and didn’t get mauled by a grizzly, which was a bonus. I’ve been trying to figure out who I am other than this racecar driver. I’ve come to appreciate the little things more and the meaning of the importance of family and friends.I’ve always been driven, and that sometimes leads you to being selfish, so I’m trying to learn to be a bit more selfless and become a better listener.”

He was recently seen in Melbourne for the Australian GP weekend as part of a pop-up store for his motorsport-inspired apparel label, Echanté. He was also seen playing padel with table leader and fellow countryman, Oscar Piastri, and British racer George Russell, and has been spending more time in the United States.

He has also been more involved with his go-kart series called the Daniel Ricciardo Series, as well as designing them.

He has long been linked with a move to Cadillac as one of the team's foundation drivers because of his experience and popularity in the United States. Though it seems very unlikely, as the Honey Badger himself told that he's done and explained:

“If I need to convince someone, then it’s the wrong person. You never need to convince a Formula 1 driver to jump in the car. I’ve got no problem; everyone can make their own mind up.”

Here is wishing him a speedy recovery.
