Actress Michelle Bathe, who is married to Sterling K. Brown, recently took to social media to react to the video of a man who has been dubbed the doppelganger of the Black Panther actor. According to US Weekly, Michelle Bathe reacted to the now-viral video posted on TikTok by user @Starboy Fitness, who is Scottish and bears an uncanny resemblance to Sterling K. Brown. She said:

"I think about maybe 495 people across 720 platforms have posted and tagged me about my Scottish husband. I have seen it and I see it, yes. Does he look like Sterling K. Brown? He absolutely does.”

The video posted by the Scottish creator has prompted a surprising turn, as other Black Scottish creators are now also making similar videos of their own. The man, whose real name is not known, goes by the username @Starboy Fitness. He later posted another video on the platform after his earlier post went viral. In the new video, posted on Friday, he said:

"Guys, the entertainment on that last post in the last 24 hours has been crazy. Welcome to ‘Black Scottish TikTok.’ I’m [going to] slow down so that you can understand me. I’m not completely sure how this got to America, but welcome. There’s a number of Black Scottish creators. … The love from the U.S. has been crazy.”

Michelle Bathe, whose full name is Ryan Michelle Bathe, met her future husband, Sterling K. Brown, in the 1990s, when both of them were students at Stanford. According to Elle Magazine, Bathe and Sterling were both studying acting at the prestigious institution. In a 2021 interview with Parade, Michelle Bathe opened up about the first time she met Sterling K. Brown, and said:

"I saw his audition for Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. And I was riveted. I had never seen anybody so young do what he was doing. I was floored."

In her post, shared on TikTok last week, on Friday, Michelle Bathe expressed her delight at the resemblance between the man and her husband, adding that such a video must end all debate about "diaspora wars." She said:

"Is that Sterling K. Brown? No, it is not Sterling K. Brown, but if this doesn’t put an end to these god-awful diaspora wars, child, I don’t know. I think this is the ancestors’ way of saying, ‘If you don’t shut up talking about each other on these damn apps. If you got something bad to say … say to the wall.’”

She added:

"If this Scottish man can sit up here, and look like he is Sterling K. Brown’s brother — not from the same mother and father — that is not our Lord’s way of saying we are all from the same gang. We are all from the same people. If that’s not the way, I don’t know what is.”

Bathe also joked about how the man, who goes by the username @Starboy Fitness, bears more resemblance to her husband than even his own family members. She said:

"There are people in Sterling’s family [who] don’t look as much like Sterling as that man. That man looks more like my husband than my husband’s brother. He looks more like my husband than my child.”

Michelle Bathe and Sterling K. Brown started dating in college but later went their separate ways before graduating in 1998. However, they later reconnected in the early 2000s, before tying the knot in 2006. In his 2017 appearance on The Talk, Sterling K. Brown reminisced about how they found their way back to each other and said:

"We broke up for three and a half years before we came back into each other’s lives. She was on the treadmill working out, and I had this epiphany, ‘I have to go tell this woman she’s the love of my life.’”

He added:

“I go to her apartment, I tell her, and she’s like, ‘Well, I’m working out right now,’ and I was like, ‘No, I can see that—I’ll just talk to you while you’re on the treadmill,’ and she’s like, ‘Well, I feel like going outside. So I’m gonna go on a run. So I’m like dressed [in a suit], and she starts running through Koreatown, and I start running along with her. Brother had to work, but it was well-worth while.”

The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in 2011, and later in 2015, they welcomed their second child. Over the years, Sterling K. Brown and Michelle Bathe have made several appearances on the red carpet together as a couple, and also as a family with their two sons.
