Ashley Everett, who is a well known backup dancer and dance captain for Beyoncé, recently opened up about why she is absent from the ongoing Cowboy Carter tour. In her appearance on the YouTube series hosted by Aubree Danielle, Ashley Everett explained that she does not want to do long term shows, and instead wants to focus on other projects. She added that she was up for a single night performance at the NFL Bowl, which took place on December 25, last year, which has been dubbed as the "Beyonce Bowl" by fans. She said:

"So they hit me up and they were like, um the team. Like she’s doing a Christmas performance and she wants her girl there! She just said that she wants Ashley. And I was like oh it’s so sweet thanks guys you know?"

Apart from Beyoncé, Ashley Everett has also worked with other several big artists. She previously collaborated with Jennifer Lopez, Tina Turner, Taemin, Anitta and many others.

More about Ashley Everett's new interview, as the dancer reveals why she has not joined the Cowboy Carter tour

In her recent appearance on Aubree Danielle's YouTube channel, Ashley Everett revealed why she appeared for the Beyoncé Bowl. The performance which took place on December 25 last year at the NRG stadium before the game between the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens, was live streamed on Netflix.

In her conversation with Danielle, Ashley Everett can be seen helping frost a cake while explaining her decision to not join the Cowboy Carter tour, which began earlier this year in April and concluded last month in June. She said:

"Obviously it’s not that I don’t work with her and will never work with her again. I’m just not touring or doing long-term things that take me away from what I’ve built for myself. So for this short one-off gig, I was totally down. Let’s do it.”

Ashley Everett has previously in an interview with Essence, revealed what it was like working with Beyoncé. The Grammy winning singer had previously helped Ashley's then boyfriend plan a proposal on stage during the the Formation World tour in 2016. She said:

“It’s really amazing because it’s like full circle. I started with [Beyoncé] so young, at 17. She’s like watched me grow up and I watched her grow to be married and a mo, and, you know, a wife and everything. So we’re just growing up together. It’s really special. It’s really special that she helped with it too. She could have been like, no, not my stage, not my dime.”

The couple later broke up and called of their engagement three years later. In another interview with Essence, Ashley Everett revealed the reason she ended the relationship after the viral onstage proposal moment. She said:

"I'm pretty low key, so I don't need big gestures all the time,' she told the outlet. 'I'm happy with one little rose on Valentine's Day, not a house filled with flowers. The big grand gesture, I felt, wasn't necessarily for me."

She further added:

Then of course with work and travel comes distance, which means you have to work harder for communication... We could go a day or two without talking, and I just felt like we weren't on the same page anymore. I did start to think, ‘Am I letting people down? Beyoncé gave me such a huge platform for our engagement.’ But things happen and life happens."

Back in 2023, Ashley Everett had first announced her decision to stop touring with Beyoncé. In her interview with People Magazine, the dancer had explained her reason for stepping away from tours. She said:

"Obviously working with Beyoncé has been incredible and I've learned so much from her," she says. All of my adulthood has been spent working with her. I feel like the pandemic was super transformative for me. It was the first time I was able to sit down and stay home and pour into me, fill up my cup. I'm not getting any younger and now I've been able to dive into other ventures and opportunities that I've always wanted to explore. It's a new journey — the renaissance of Ashley Everett essentially."

Beyoncé recently won an Emmy Award for her work as a costume designer on the Christmas Day Halftime Show, which was livestreamed on Netflix. She won an award for Outstanding Costume, Variety, Non Fiction and Reality Programming.
