Following Taylor Swift’s announcement of her new album title, TV host Jimmy Fallon made a few speculations about the possible release date.
During a recent appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce’s podcast, the singer revealed the album cover for The Life of a Showgirl, which was blurred for the audience. Meanwhile, on the August 12 episode of his late-night show, Jimmy Fallon said that although the exact release date of the album is unknown, he joked that nobody will be releasing music on that day.
Trying to uncover the clues, he said:
“We know the number 12 will be involved since it’s her 12th album and the announcement was shared on Instagram at 12:12 am on Tuesday, August 12th. You follow? So, the question is which 12th?”
Fallon also said:
“Yesterday, on August 11th, the Instagram account Taylor Nation posted a carousel of 12 pics of Taylor and when they posted it, Taylor's website crashed at exactly 9:12 pm. But when you factor in that Taylor Nation first teased the album with a different post, also made at exactly 9:12 pm, now there's two 9:12s, which points to September 12th.”
Fallon joked that without the Love Story singer’s music and merchandise, people did weird things like having a Labubu collection. He also suggested that Lady Gaga was connected to Taylor Swift’s new album.
Jimmy Fallon said that when the Eras Tour was underway, one of the songs had a countdown starting at 2:24. He pointed out that August 12 was the 224th day of the year, and it was also the day the song Applause was released in 2013, exactly 12 years earlier.
Jimmy Fallon and Taylor Swift discuss Midnights
In 2022, Taylor Swift released her tenth studio album, Midnights, which Jimmy Fallon said performed well on streaming platforms and sales. On the show, he asked Swift how she felt about the album’s reception.
Swift explained that it was her first fully autobiographical album in a while, unlike her previous ones, which were re-recordings or fictional stories. She said she felt both overwhelmed by the fans’ love and a bit soft and emotional at the same time. Taylor Swift mentioned:
“But the fact that the fans have done this like, the breaking of the records and the going out to the stores and getting it. It's like, you know, I'm 32. So, we're considered geriatric pop stars. They start trying to put us out to pasture at age 25. I'm just happy to be here.”
Jimmy Fallon reminded Taylor Swift that she once said her album was based on 13 sleepless nights in her life and asked if she would wake up in the middle of the night to write or record ideas.
The singer explained that she loved writing songs, poems, and stories, and that the creative process still felt mysterious to her. She said that in the past six or seven years, she had been constantly creating, and the more she created, the happier she felt.
