Kylan Darnell, who is an American beauty pageant winner and internet personality, and her mom explain why her sister Izzy dropped Bama Rush before bid day.

Izzy Darnell, Kylan Darnell's sister, has dropped Bama Rush right before bid day. According to Fox 32, Bama Rush is short for sorority recruitment at the University of Alabama, which, due to social media and virality, has become an intense competition where hundreds of girls document their journeys, gain followers, get brand deals, and even pay tuition through these opportunities.

Izzy posted a video on TikTok on August 16 where she can be seen on the beach holding a white envelope with "BID" written on it. Lip-syncing to Britney Spears' "Oops!…I Did It Again," she then rips it up, followed by dancing on the beach. She then wrote over the seconds-long video, "Haha fooled yall again," followed by the caption, "Little do you know I dropped first."

The two sisters' mom, Tonya Darnell, said in the comment section,

"Izzy rushed, she wanted to see for herself. It just wasn’t for her."

Just days before, her older sister also announced that she would be taking a step back in the final year of her Rush, stating the reason to be her "struggling mentally with some things during rush."

Kylan Darnell defends Izzy

Kylan Darnell is known as the queen of Bama Rush, and a few days ago came to her sister's defense after the younger Darnell got bullied online. Talking to PEOPLE just days after announcing that she would be taking a step back, she said,

"I saw a video of somebody saying that my sister didn't even get accepted to the university. It was a bit ridiculous. I've got comments where people are going in on my sorority sisters and creating more drama for me."

As a freshman at Alabama, Izzy boasts a whopping 1.2 million on TikTok and 510K on Instagram.

"The University of Alabama, the sororities and fraternities, it's very secret. They don't want anybody to know, and Izzy is a big liability. So, it's been very hard for her and what people are saying on the Internet just because she wants her own voice during this process. I think it's definitely harder for her [to rush] than it has been for anybody else in the past," she explained.

Recalling her own experience, Kylan Darnell further shared,

"I got to have my own opinion when rushing. And I feel like a lot of people forget that Izzy's her own person, that she can have her own opinion, that she doesn't have to do everything that I did the way I did it, that she's her own person."

Bid Day at the University of Alabama is taking place on Aug. 17.
