Social media personality Lil Tay, from Canada, is reportedly under fire for her comments about working women.
On August 16, she shared a self-recorded video on Instagram, reposted by The Shade Room, saying that women over 25 who have 9-5 jobs are failures because by this time, they must have made a good fortune. She states,
“If you’re over the age of 25, and you’re still working a 9-5, you are a failure like by then you should’ve already made your bag and ladies every single one of you, should drop the link, like me.”
Her comments were seemingly not well-received by social media users. One Instagram user (@tripleblack239) said:
“She really felt like she said something.”
While some netizens felt Lil Tay’s comments were aimed at seeking attention, others mentioned that it was the funniest fall.
“She trolling because she need more attention for some motion,” a netizen (@thatsjust.diamond) mentioned.

Netizens mentioned that Lil Tay did not struggle, while others felt young girls might take inspiration from her.
“You can tell she young af you can have it all right now and be struggling at 25 life has a crazy way of humbling you,” another Instagram user (@sniffthispinkshitt) claimed.
“Someone that turned to OF the moment they turned 18 can’t have chat for people with regular jobs. Did she even give life a try?” a netizen (@thelifeofcindyf) opined.
“It’s sad because some little girl is going to really believe her,” a platform user (@ms.tanesha) shared.
A breakdown of Lil Tay’s earnings
In the video, Lil Tay also mentions that her family has disowned her, and she is no longer in touch with them. Speaking about her family, she said:
“I can literally buy their whole life if I wanted to. I am good. Also, f*ck an education cause Harvard was never gonna help me make 8 figures. That’s why dropped out of it and I dropped the link instead.”
As per her social media, as well as reports, Lil Tay began her On*yF*ns journey soon after she turned 18. She said her earnings were as much as $1 million. Sharing a screenshot of her earnings on Instagram, she wrote that she made that money in just 3 hours and posted that she had shared special content taken right after midnight on her 18th birthday, which was available for only 24 hours.
As seen in the screenshot, her earnings, amounting to $1,024,298.09, were calculated from subscriptions ($511,003.79), tips ($26,736.19), and messages ($486,558.11).
On August 4, Lil Tay shared another Instagram post, saying that she had broken a big record by earning $1 million in just a few hours, and reiterated that she was still the youngest in the business.
She also spoke to her critics, saying that people had been doubting and hating on her since she was nine, but she proved them wrong. She added that people should live their lives the way they want and not care about what others think, while pointing out that she was already rich and plans to get even richer.
