TikToker Thea von Engelbrechten, popularly known as SlyvanianDrama had reportedly been sued by Japanese company, Epoch, in April, 2025. In a new update on August 12, BBC secured the court document that the company had dropped the lawsuit "without prejudice".

According to the news outlet, Epoch had previously filed the lawsuit against SlyvanianDrama on the grounds of "copyright and trademark infringement." For those unversed, SlyvanianDrama would use the dolls by the company, which are sold in the name of the Calico Critters line. The company claimed that Thea's channel was not a "fair use" of the dolls and added that she had signed sponsorships with brands, which leads to infringement and profit making by other brands.

TikTok and Instagram creator SlyvanianDrama reportedly rose to popularity during the pandemic. According to Dexerto, fans and followers were immediately taken by the channel's relatable content as cute, fuzzy dolls would be used to enact real life issues, including relationship problems, substance use, and others. The doll's manufacturing company, Epoch reportedly suddenly dropped the lawsuit against Thea.

The news outlet revealed that Thea returned to Instagram after her last post in January, 2025. Thea took to her Instagram to seemingly begin a new chapter and revealed they would be changing their "name and profile picture" of the instagram account. They asked fans for "suggestions" for the name change, which was followed by fans dropping hillarious names in the comment section.

One user (@zeeqt) suggested, "notsylvaniandrama", while another user (@isabellegram) wrote, "CanceledCritters". The creator announced that they'll make the changes on "August 19."

While the terms of settlement haven't been revealed, Epoch has reportedly dropped its lawsuit against the social media creator. The company reportedly was also faced by a lot of backlash by Thea's followers who claimed that they only bought the dolls after seeing her channel.

At the time of writing, Thea's instagram channel has 1 million followers and reportedly has more than 2 million followers on TikTok.
