Model and singer Courtney Stodden has accused model Chrissy Teigen of “completely ignoring” her recent private message, years after the cyberbullying scandal.
In her recent Instagram post, Stodden defended Teigen for the backlash she has been facing ever since she appeared on Meghan Markle's cooking show, With Love, Meghan. They shared a reel on their account where they said that people have been asking them for their opinion on Teigen’s appearance on the show.
They said that people should not be bullying Chrisy as:
“Two wrongs don’t make her right.”
They further added that when they reached out to her on Instagram, they were ignored entirely. Their feud dates back to 2011, when Courtney Stodden was 16 and married to 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchison. During that time, Teigen sent them a series of mean and hurtful messages. Stodden accused her of online bullying.
Did Chrissy Teigen apologise to Courtney Stodden after cyberbullying scandal?
Chrissy Teigen publicly apologized to Courtney Stodden in 2021 for cyberbullying them nearly a decade earlier.
BBC reported that in May of that year, Teigen took to X (formerly Twitter) to apologise to Stodden by posting a series of tweets. Teigen said she is now "ashamed and completely embarrassed" of her actions from over a decade ago. She said in her tweet:
“Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past... [comments] in front of the entire world. I'm mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention-seeking troll. I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behaviour but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel.”
She continued, while addressing her followers:
“I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved, and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly. These were not my only mistakes and surely won't be my last, as hard as I try but god I will try!!”
Teigen further said that she tried to contact Courtney Stodden at that time to apologise for her behavior.
In an Instagram video in 2012, Stodden said,
“It really affected me. It’s so damaging when you have somebody like Chrissy Teigen bullying children.”
Stodden accepted her apology but also questioned its sincerity. They said:
“I accept her apology and forgive her. But the truth remains the same, I have never heard from her or her camp in private. In fact, she blocked me on Twitter.”
Courtney Stodden continued:
“All of me wants to believe this is a sincere apology, but it feels like a public attempt to save her partnerships with Target and other brands who are realising her wokeness is a broken record.”
Courtney Stodden is married to television producer Jared Safier. The two tied the knot in December 2024 in an intimate ceremony in Palm Springs, California. E! News reported that Stodden wore a $60,000 vintage wedding dress for the nuptials.
