Dolly Parton has offered Kelly Clarkson advice amid losing her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. On August 7, 2025, the Blackstock family announced the passing of the talent manager after a 3-year battle with skin cancer.

Kelly Clarkson had previously suspended the remaining shows in her Las Vegas Residency after Brandon’s condition had worsened. The couple wedded in 2013 and applied for divorce in 2020, which was settled in 2022.

Dolly Parton, who lost Carl Dean, her husband of almost 60 years, earlier this year, has advised the Stronger hitmaker to be grateful for the years she spent with Brandon. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight published on August 12, 2025, she stated:

"I think you just have to be grateful for the years you’ve had with someone and try to remember the best of all that. Take their energy that they have given you … and kinda just recycle that and let that become a part of you.”

Dolly Parton, who has herself been grieving Carl Dean, extended her support to Kelly Clarkson, advising her to believe that Brandon was in a better place:

“Just honor their memory and just know they’re in a better place than we are these days.”

The Jolene hitmaker confirmed that she hadn’t contacted Clarkson personally but would do so when she wrapped up the promotional activities for her book, “Star of the Show: My Life on Stage.”

In July 2025, Dolly Parton was a guest on Khloe Kardashian’s Khloe in Wonderland podcast, and she discussed adjusting to the reality that her loved one was no longer with her. She revealed that the loss had caused her writer’s block and left her unable to finish her songwriting projects:

“My husband passed away three months ago — when you asked me if there’s stuff that I’ve started, haven’t finished, several things I’ve wanted to start but I can’t do it,”

She added:

"I will later, but I’m just coming up with such wonderful, beautiful ideas, but I think I won’t finish it.”

Dolly Parton is a cultural icon who has had a storied career inspiring generations.
