Trent Sweeney, the younger brother of Sydney Sweeney, has gained spotlight for mocking the controversy surrounding his sister’s American Eagle jeans ad campaign.
In his latest Instagram post, Trent Sweeney, who is a certified U.S. Air Force sergeant, posted his certificate on his stories, along with the caption, “it’s them good jeans,” a subtle nod to the viral controversy surrounding the brand.
The campaign by American Eagle featured the actress delivering a pun on the words “genes” and “jeans,” where she stares into the camera and says, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”
Ever since its release, the ad has received widespread backlash online, with some saying it promoted eugenic ideas such as white supremacy. Others called the ad was hypersexualised. However, it was later taken down by the company. The incident has sparked an interest in the life of Sweeney’s younger brother.
