If you love legal K-dramas, then tune in to the latest series, Beyond the Bar, which literally goes beyond just typical stories about law firms and lawyers. It features Squid Game actor Lee Jin-wook and Family By Choice actress Jung Chae-yeong in the leading roles.

The series kicked off with Chae-yeong's Kang Hyo-min entering the Yullim Law firm as a rookie. But she takes very little time in proving her excellence and knowledge about the subject and applying her learning to the practical world.

Fans who loved the recent chapters must be waiting for the next. So, Beyond the Bar Episode 5 will arrive on Saturday, August 16, followed by Episode 6 on Sunday, August 17, 2025, on Netflix and JTBC.

So far, each new episode brings a new legal case that is unique and interesting to solve. It does not just follow regular cases like accidents and robbery, but those that involve careful examinations.

Titled 'Butterfly Chrysalis,' Episode 3 of Beyond the Bar opens with a flashback, featuring Hyo-min as a High School student who once helped a butterfly come out of the cocoon. She believed that it needed help, but the truth was that she needed time and her own efforts to emerge.

But Hyo-min's action ultimately led to the butterfly's death. Through this flashback, Hyo-min thinks about the importance of personal growth. Then the episode dives into the main case involving a truck driver, Deok-ho, who drank instant coffee without knowing that it had alcohol in it.

While driving, he lost control and saw a baby on the road. However, Deok-ho stopped the vehicle on time, preventing any injuries or pain to the child. But the mother's reaction and the child's medical condition revealed that the child has been paralysed.

Later, during the trial, Hyo-min and Seok-hun prove that the driver is innocent and that the child is suffering because his mother is obsessed with saving him. Though she is a mother, raising her child alone, her parenting style is proving to be harmful to her son.

The episode also featured some workplace tensions, but Seok-hun managed them well. By the end, Seok-hun revisits a painful memory about his ex-partner's pregnancy that has left a mark on his life.

Episode 4 of Beyond the Bar is titled 'Lex Talionis,' which introduces viewers to a new face, CEO Cheol-min, who wants Seok-hun to handle his case. Despite doubts and complexity, Seok-hun accepts it, and the drama starts unfolding.

This time, it is a defamation case against the housekeeper who reveals that Cheol-min is an abusive father. However, another layer opens when the criminal records of the housekeeper come to light.

Hyo-min gets frustrated with Seok-hun for helping out the CEO, as it looked like he was covering for him and hiding the truth that the CEO beats his daughter. But in reality, Seok-hun was cleverly gathering evidence against the CEO and eventually succeeded in his plan.

Once again, he felt pain after this case because Seok-hun wanted to be a father, but his wish never came true. As for Hyo-min, she's still trying to understand him.
