Butterfly is the newest spy thriller offering that Amazon Prime Video has in store for its viewers. Starring Daniel Dae Kim, Reina Hardesty, Piper Perabo, and others, the show is based on the Boom! Studios graphic novel series that is created by Arash Amel and Marguerite Bennett.

The series is about David Jung (Daniel Dae Kim), who is a former US intelligence operative who moves to South Korea to have a peaceful life. However, his life turns upside down when his past resurfaces and a skilled assassin called Rebecca (Reina Hardesty), is out on a hunt to capture him.

The six-part show premiered recently on Amazon Prime Video on August 13, 2025 and the show’s music composer Curtis Green spoke about his experience on working on Butterfly’s soundtrack.

The show offers viewers a lot of high-octane action sequences. However, any chase or action sequence is incomplete without an equally pulse-pounding background score. As Collider unveiled the very first listen of the production’s “main title theme”, Curtis Green spoke about his experience working on the show.

Green is the protégé of Oscar-winner Michael Giacchino, who composed for Lost and The Batman. Green himself has scored for Zootopia+ and Dug Days. He states,

“Butterfly was a joy to score—it’s exactly the kind of show that I would watch on my own, so it was a pleasure to be a part of it. The main title theme is all about layers — layered sounds, melodies, percussion… layered emotions. Butterfly is such a multidimensional series. I wanted to write something that would evoke the complex nature of David (Kim) and Rebecca’s (Hardesty) story. Their themes intertwine, overlap and clash — just as their lives do.”

While the show will debut on August 13, 2025, the show’s original score soundtrack will release via Lakeshore Records on all major digital platforms on August 15, 2025.

Collider mentions that the “main title theme” has a lot of melodies to it and the highlight of the theme song is the blending of percussion instruments. While Green has employed a variety of intstruments into his musical creation, the percussion adds a unique touch to the whole score. As Green stated earlier, the show is multidimensional and therefore the composer has created a vibrant score to match.

Butterfly is about David Jung (Kim), who is a former US intelligence personnel and is now living in South Korea. However, he also creates a private intelligence organization and faked his own death so that his daughter, Rebecca, is safe. However, Rebecca, is now working as an assassin in David’s former agency and he must go back to his previous life.

The show is available on Amazon Prime Video.
