Dexter: Resurrection - Who really is Charley in the Showtime crime drama? Character explored in depth

Dexter: Resurrection has introduced several new characters and more stories, piquing fan interest in the show. One of the many new characters is Charley, played by Hollywood royalty, Uma Thurman.

Thurman’s Charley might not be a serial killer, but she has the same terrifying and mysterious air around her. She works for Peter Dinklage’s Leon Prater as his security head and right-hand woman. From taking care of his elaborate dinners with the serial killers to eliminating threats, Charley is one of the most important people for Prater.

Charley used to be a Special Ops officer, and later joined Prater, taking care of his business, especially in keeping it hidden, which sometimes also came to killing other people.

Character explored in depth

As mentioned, Uma Thurman plays the character of Charley, the security head of Leon Prater. She has been appearing since the first episode of Dexter: Resurrection, titled, A Beating Heart.

Charley has often shown her disgust toward the serial killers while dealing with them, which can be seen in several instances, such as in episode 2 of Dexter: Resurrection, where she does not think twice before killing Keith, who put a hand on her shoulder. Later, it doesn’t faze her as she gets back to her work, and when she reaches Prater’s manor, she busies herself in preparing for the dinner Prater was hosting.

Whether killing a prolific serial killer or preparing for a party, Charley is reliable in all aspects. Other than Keith, Charley has also killed another serial killer called Mia LaPierre. This could have become a problem for her Boss, Prater, as Mia was one of Prater’s serial killer guests.

In episode 6 of Dexter: Resurrection, she plots and successfully eliminates the threat by bribing a guard to kill Mia. Time and again, Charley has saved Prater from being exposed by taking care of the killers, making her his reliable employee.

Dexter: Resurrection: Charley shows her vulnerable side

While she may appear tough and guarded, she approaches all her matters directly, without beating around the bush. She does take care of all of Prater’s serial killer-related business, but it is not yet revealed how she ended up joining Prater in his twisted world.

However, there are moments where Thurman’s Charley showed her vulnerable side. For instance, in Episode 5 of Dexter: Resurrection, Charley pays a visit to Mildred Brown, who is revealed to be her mother, who is suffering from a brain tumor.

As Charley does her job, she can be seen donning a scowl or a frown while dealing with the killers. However, as she visits her mother, Charley gives a rare and caring smile. Her talks with her mother also reveal that Charley wasn’t always like this. She used to be a shy girl who, due to unknown circumstances, had to toughen up to face the world, making her a mysterious character who isn’t afraid of serial killers.
