David Lieberman, aka Micro, is an ex-NSA analyst with whom Frank teams up in The Punisher Season 1 as the duo uncovers the illegal operations going on in the government. Micro’s hacking abilities are shown to be legendary and he had to fake his death to get under the radar from the powerful people who wanted him dead.

After Frank and Micro unite in Season 1, they come to know that Frank’s once good friend Billy Russo and corrupt CIA Director William Rawlins were behind the hit on Frank’s family, which killed his wife and children.

As David Lieberman and Frank close in on the culprits, the stakes rise higher, and fortunately Micro and Frank make it out alive, and Micro also reunites with his family.

As mentioned earlier, David Lieberman makes it out alive in The Punisher. He had to go underground in the first place because he was too close to the truth regarding the investigation on Rawlins. He had to fake his death so that he could remain safe and his family, unharmed.

However, after he teamed up with Frank, the duo successfully brought those criminals down, making it safe for David to go back to his family and resume a normal life. The bond that Frank and David shared came to an end in Season 1 as Frank dropped David off at his house but did not go inside.

Since Frank lost his own family in his fight for justice, he did not want to affect the Lieberman family in a negative way by visiting their house. The two bid an emotional goodbye and their partnership ended just like that since Davidf did not appear in The Punisher Season 2 nor was he mentioned by Frank any time in that season.

One interesting thing to note here is that Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the actor who played David Lieberman in The Punisher, also played the role of Ben Grimm, aka the Thing, in the recent MCU film The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The two characters are extremely different from each other and talking about his experience of portraying such different characters within Marvel’s world, the actor said,

“I think it's cool that Micro is named David Lieberman, who takes his last name from Stan Lee," Moss-Bachrach said. "Then Ben Grimm is this Kirby amalgamation. So, in my two brief portrayals of Marvel characters, I've hit the two big guys. It's a deep honor that I take to heart.”

Ebon’s portrayal of The Thing in The Fantastic Four: First Steps has garnered positive reviews and while fans did not get to see more of Micro in The Punisher, they will definitely see The Thing in upcoming MCU projects.

The Punisher can be streamed on Disney+.
