Does Joe die in Alien: Earth Episode 2? Character's fate, explored

Alien: Earth has already released two of its episodes and the sci-fi horror series is being eagerly watched by fans of the Alien franchise. Created by Noah Hawley, Alien: Earth, is a prequel series that is set two years before the events of the original 1979 Alien film starring Sigourney Weaver.

Set in the year 2120, the show focuses on a space vessel called Maginot, crash-landing on Earth and releasing a collection of samples that contain Alien lifeforms. Amidst all this, a hybrid called Wendy (Sydney Chandler), must face the threat along with a group of soldiers.

At the end of Episode 2 of Alien: Earth, Wendy’s biological brother Joe is in trouble as the Xenomorph that almost killed him, comes back and takes him away.

In the show, Wendy is the first hybrid with a human consciousness and a synthetic body which gives her superhuman strength and intelligence. As she investigates the “omelette” of alien eggs on the orders of another synth, Kirsch, she must now look for her brother and encounter Morrow, who works for Weyland-Yutani and wants to protect the alien specimens at all costs.

A look at what happens to Joe in Alien: Earth Episode 2

When Wendy is reunited with Joe—who is a prodigy medic also known as Hermit—their bond is broken by a Xenomorph. This occurs just after the Xenomorph almost ate Joe alive before Morrow neutralized the monster.

While Morrow saved Joe’s life, he ultimately does not care about Joe. While Joe was pulled away by the Xenomorph at the end of Alien: Earth Episode 2, it’s likely that he has not died yet as Joe is an important character and is crucial to the character development of Wendy. It seems that Wendy, Joe, and Morrow, will have intersecting paths in the later episodes.

Who is Joe in Alien: Earth? More details on the character

Joseph or Joe is the biological brother of Wendy’s human counterpart Marcy and he is an avid baseball lover. He works for the prodigy Corporations’s Security Force as a human medic and is also known as Hermit.

The second episode of the show is titled, “Mr. October”, which is a reference to the World Series baseball autograph by Reggie Jackson, which Joe gets. The player was nicknamed Mr. October as he had brilliant clutch performances.

Joe still remembers his father who passed away before the events of the series and Mr. October symbolizes what Joe’s father told him as a kid. Joe’s father mentioned that life presents people with opportunities and those who take it, are always remembered in history.

In Alien: Earth, Joe is the only one till now who has encountered a Xenomorph and has survived. The character is important to Wendy and Joe is a well-developed character with emotions and layers.
