During the start of The Big Bang Theory season 12, fans saw that Leonard and Penny went through a small disagreement where Leonard was ready to have kids and expand their family and Penny immediately shut down the idea.

During her interview with Screenrant, expressing her displeasure with the ending, Kaley Cuoco said, “I actually wished that they did not [make Penny pregnant] because I loved that message [of Penny not wanting kids] so much”


"It was cute how the writers did it at the end with Penny’s surprise pregnancy, and all in all I’m glad, but I was actually voting for her not to [get pregnant],” she added.

Penny is married to Leonard Hofstadter in The Big Bang Theory. Leonard had a crush on Penny since her entry into the group’s lives as their next-door neighbor. By the end of the first season, Hofstadter manages to confess to Penny his feelings and they finally get to have their first date. After a break, the two resume dating in the fifth season and eventually get married at the start of season nine. In the series finale, it was revealed that Penny was pregnant with their first child.
