Irish Blood is a crime drama series and kicks off with Fiona Sharpe, who is a successful divorce lawyer in L.A.. She is suddenly dragged back to the old country (Ireland) after getting a cryptic message from the father she hasn’t seen in forever. Soon, she lands right in the middle of a murder mystery.

Fiona Sharpe gets there, only to find out her father, Declan, has died. He fell off a cliff, they say. Local cops called it a tragic accident, maybe suicide, and it can’t be helped. Fiona is not buying it for a second, especially after she finds a video from Declan himself declaring that if anything happens to him, it was not an accident.

The first episode of Irish Blood throws us into the family drama deep end. Fiona meets her long-lost Irish relatives, who are stunned at her arrival. The funeral is equal parts grief and secrets spilling everywhere. Somewhere in the mix, Fiona stumbles on an old locker key and a briefcase stuffed with keepsakes and half-baked clues that drag her right back to her childhood and into the heart of whatever mess Declan left behind.

Meanwhile, there’s a masked creep lurking around, making it clear someone doesn’t want Fiona poking into Dad’s business. She’s fired up, especially as she starts sniffing out a criminal racket involving horse racing scams.

By the end of the Irish Blood episode 1, Fiona is locked in; she’s not leaving Ireland, not with this much drama on the table.

Irish Blood Episode 2: Horseshoe: A deepening mystery

Irish Blood episode 2 is titled Horseshoe. Here, things get more chaotic. The episode pulls the curtain back on all the shady things going on behind the scenes in the local horse racing world. Fiona is not buying the official story about her dad Declan’s death for a second. She ropes in Roisin, this young cop who seems a little too eager, and together they start poking around where they really shouldn’t.

Pretty soon, the evidence piles up. There is this guy, Patsy Burgess, who is apparently running a horse-thieving operation with many cons. Fiona also finds out that right before he died, her father was in the thick of it: getting accused of beating up jockey Oscar Rafferty and even trying to snatch a horse.

And then, the plot goes full-on crime thriller. Turns out, there’s been this horse-switch scam going on forever. They steal prized racehorses, swap them with worthless ones, and cash in big-time on insurance and ransom. The unlucky horses get dumped in bogs. The expensive ones are shipped off overseas for a fat stack of cash. This is why Declan might’ve ended up on someone’s hit list.

Fiona decides to go snooping and catches Patsy in the act, swapping horses in some sketchy barn. She gets grabbed by Patsy’s goons and dragged out to the Nakanana Bog. Patsy is about to shoot her with a bolt gun, the same one they use on cows, but she manages to get away, not before some mysterious rando shows up to drop a first and last warning.

There’s way more muscle behind this horse ring than anyone thought, and Fiona’s just poked the hornet’s nest.

About Irish Blood: A rich blend of mystery, family drama, and Irish culture

Irish Blood dips its toe into family drama. Fiona Sharpe (played by Alicia Silverstone) gets hit in the face with family secrets. Her whole life is built on stories meant to keep her and her mom in the dark about her father’s sketchy side hustle. And as she starts stitching herself into the Irish family, she stumbles into secrets that challenge her understanding of her father and herself..

The scenery features rain-soaked racetracks, lakeside cottages, and typical Irish bogs. All that lush Irish folklore is baked right into the plot. There’s even a Puka, a magical pony from Irish folklore.

What really keeps things rolling, though, is Fiona mixing it up with the locals. Roisin has a nosy neighbor vibe down to an art, so if there’s gossip floating around, she’s already got the scoop and maybe the receipts, too. Leo Travers, on the other hand, is a leading man ripped right out of some glossy rom-com, except he’s got a little darkness in his eyes.

And they shot the show in Dublin, Wicklow, and the Causeway Coast, so you get those moody, misty shots. The story moves at a solid clip, never letting you get too comfy.

But the big questions are what keep you glued: Who killed Declan Murphy? Is there some underground horse mafia running things? Who’s pulling the strings behind the scenes?

Irish Blood Episode 2 doesn’t just answer a few questions; it elevates the danger and puts Fiona right into the line of fire.
