AMC+ premiered the Nautilus Season 1 finale titled 'Too Big To Fail' on August 15, 2025, in the US. The British-Australian adventure drama series is based on Jules Verne's 1870 novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas.

The fantasy adventure show follows Nemo and his crew aboard the titular submersible ship as they struggle to escape from the tyrannical East India Company and its Director Crawley in the year 1857. The finale episode was all about Nemo's strategy to strike the company's financial standing and end its oppressive rule.

After The Dreadnought returns to London, Nemo sends Ranbir to the docks and asks him to spread rumours about the East India Company facing financial troubles. Nemo plans to strike the economic stronghold of the Company, which would, luckily, lead to Lord Algernon Pitt and Director Crawley's destruction as well. Ranbir's rumours work in their favor, and the Company faces a major financial crisis.

Here is what happened in the Nautilus Season 1 finale.

Nautilus Season 1 ending explained: Nemo takes over the Company shares

Nemo and his crew plan to steal shares from three of the major shareholders of the East India Company- Jericho Baker, Pitt, and Dr. Ambrose Skin. Each of Nemo's crew is tasked with one shareholder, following which they disguise themselves and set their mission in motion. After Nemo learns that Crawley has called a shareholder meeting at 7 PM to convince them about the company's standing, he gives the crew three hours to obtain the shares.

At the Reform Club, Nemo plans to take Baker's shares by luring him with a diamond deal. He shows a large diamond to Cornelius and claims that it was produced in a mine with clear stones. Just when Cornelius is about to make Nemo an offer, Baker intrudes and instead offers to pay for the mine with his company's shares. Nemo accepts the deal, and the duo shakes hands.

Elsewhere, Jacqueline and Humility hackles Pitt, with Jacqueline telling Pitt that Humility is finally ready to marry him. They cunningly get him to transfer all of his shares to Humility, thinking that it is a marriage contract. Boniface hits the final jackpot after he fools Skin and transfers all of his shares to his name.

At the scheduled shareholder meeting, Crawley tries his best to convince all the Shareholders that their money is still safe and the Company is not facing a financial crisis. However, Nemo and his Nautilus crew arrive just in time, claiming to be the Company's biggest shareholders and vote that Nemo be made the new Chairman of the board. When Crawley plans to take down Nemo, Youngblood switches sides and announces his loyalty to the new shareholders, ie, the Nautilus crew.

Nemo accuses Crawley of risking his troops' lives by forcing them to steal kingdoms and makes him sign an Order of Discharge, releasing all the Kalpani prisoners, employees, and future taxation.

Nautilus Season 1 ending explained: Crawley and his Company's final collapse

While Nemo and his crew successfully managed to take down the East India Company, Crawley was adamant on following them in Dreadnought. As he prepared to strike back, Nemo found a magical stone (similar to the one Benoit had) in the Company's vault. Nemo and the crew plan to destroy the bridge that would hinder Crawley and his crew from following them in their next adventure.

In the Nautilus' intense climax, Crawley and Youngblood are aboard the Dreadnought when they are alerted about Nemo's ship. As the titular ship charges with full speed against Crawley and his crew, Boniface works to collapse the bridge. As shots are fired and the fuse is burned, Ranbir and Blaster drop the bridge, and it collapses, marking a symbolic end to Crawley's colonizing oppression.

Nemo finally places the magical stone together with Benoit's stone, and they light up, proving that the Atlantis treasure is real. Nemo also has a vision about Benoit and realises that he is alive. While Nemo and the Nautilus celebrate their success, Cuff stabs Crawley and confiscates the ship's blueprints from him. Cuff vows to build his own vesse; and beat Nemo and his crew to Atlantis, setting forth a new adventure for Season 2.
