Fans in Ballroom 20 at San Diego Comic-Con didn’t just show up for Gen V; they got an early glimpse at the chaos coming in The Boys Season 5. Right after the Gen V Season 2 panel wrapped, showrunner Michele Fazekas exited the stage, and actor Adam Bourke (who plays Vought’s in-universe filmmaker) announced that they were about to screen a teaser for The Boys Season 5. The footage was shown exclusively in-room, meaning no online release yet. It marked the first look at the fifth season of The Boys, which has already wrapped filming and will be released sometime in 2026.
The teaser didn’t waste time. It threw out quick, bloody shots of familiar characters, Butcher, Homelander, Starlight, Kimiko, along with returning faces from Gen V and a few surprise additions. Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins appeared for a brief Supernatural reunion, while Seth Rogen popped up in another cameo.
Homelander, now the real power behind the White House, shouted to a crowd about a “god-fearing nation.” With vomit, explosions, and dead eyes everywhere, Comic-Con attendees got a raw taste of just how far The Boys Season 5 is ready to push things.
Homelander tightens grip in The Boys Season 5 teaser as Gen V crossovers and supe gore take over
The teaser shown behind closed doors didn’t hold back. One of the standout moments included a disgusting scene where an unidentified supe vomits what looked like a bloody hairball straight onto Kimiko’s cheek.
It wasn’t subtle, it was loud, messy, and completely in line with what The Boys has done in past seasons. Another shot showed someone experiencing a full-body explosion inside a bathroom stall, with gore splattering across the tiles. These scenes weren’t framed for shock value; they were edited in quick, tight cuts that made it clear violence is still front and center in The Boys Season 5.
Fans also got their first look at Daveed Diggs in a white, sequin-covered outfit on a stage. It looked like some sort of in-universe performance, maybe put on by Vought, but no context was given. His character is still unnamed, but his appearance was theatrical and deliberately over-the-top. Another returning face was Colby Minifie’s Ashley, who now seems completely broken.
One close-up showed her nearly bald, having pulled out most of her hair, her eyes wide and vacant. She’s hanging on by a thread after dealing with season after season of supe-induced disasters.
Jensen Ackles made a brief appearance as Soldier Boy, still sealed in cryogenic storage and under Homelander’s watch. Meanwhile, Jared Padalecki was seen flashing a sly grin in what looked like a casual scene; his character's details haven’t been revealed.
Misha Collins, also spotted in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it clip, joins them for a Supernatural reunion that fans have been asking for since Season 3. While we don’t know who they’re playing, showrunner Eric Kripke clearly leaned into bringing the CW trio back together.
The Boys themselves, Hughie, Frenchie, Kimiko, MM, and Starlight, were all glimpsed, confirming they’re alive after being captured at the end of Season 4. Karl Urban’s Butcher, now with temporary powers again, was seen alongside them.
There’s also a brief moment featuring Erin Moriarty’s Starlight and what appeared to be the group tracking down Gen V’s Jordan Li and Marie Moreau. Jordan is shown in female form (played by London Thor) watching warily from a porch, suggesting the two shows will continue to overlap heavily.
Cameron Crovetti’s Ryan was shown covered in blood. It’s unclear if it was his or someone else’s, but his expression was blank. Given where Season 4 left off, with Ryan taking a step toward Homelander, it looks like he’s deep into that transformation. Another image showed Seth Rogen making his way into the chaos again, continuing his run of random cameos.
The teaser confirmed that The Boys Season 5 isn’t toning anything down. If anything, it’s piling on more gore, more twisted humor, and more character breakdowns. With no release date confirmed but 2026 being the expected window, the footage sets a clear tone: nobody’s safe, everyone’s losing something, and Vought is still running the circus.
