Dexter is resurrected, and back in action on Dexter: Resurrection. He was left profusely bleeding after getting shot in his chest by son Harrison, and it seemed like he would die. However, fans were in for a happy surprise when Dexter survived the shot.
It is not quite shocking. The man has been through numerous near-death situations, and a single bullet may not be enough. It would definitely take a lot more than that to end the serial killer with a moral code.
Fans are eager to know when Dexter: Resurrection unfolds. Dexter's latest outing takes place in a present-day milieu, after the events of Dexter: New Blood. His son has disappeared, and Dexter's search for him has started in Dexter: Resurrection.
Dexter: Resurrection timeline and other details
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, creator Clyde Phillips says,
“You could almost consider Resurrection the next season of New Blood.”
In this newest sequel of the Dexter franchise, we see Dexter recovering after his son, Harrison, shot him in Dexter: New Blood. This series quickly takes a dark turn after Dexter’s suppressed “dark passenger” begins to creep its way back. His past begins to return into his life.
The series becomes further intriguing when Angel Batista arrives. He has many questions for Dexter about his past and the case. In this series, Dexter is driven by a mix of guilt and purpose. He has guilt about his past, and is now determined to find his son. The timeline is therefore right after New Blood.
Right after the original series, Dexter, was released, it quickly became a popular show. It was both because of the fresh storyline and the performance of Michael C. Hall, who captured the essence of Dexter’s psychology with perfection.
Dexter: New Blood followed the events of the first series and showed us Dexter’s situation after 10 years. Then, Dexter: Original Sin, released in 2024. narrated a storyline around events before the first series. Here we saw a young Dexter Morgan navigating through his youth.
In Dexter: Resurrection, the tension and the drama have already made the show worthwhile for its massive fan base. You can stream it on Paramount+. The show released on July 11 and has received a 9.3 rating on IMDb.
Currently, seven episodes of Dexter: Resurrection have been released, with the eighth set to drop on August 22. In an interview with RadioTimes, Michael C. Hall spoke about his experience,
“He's remarkably capable and also remarkably limited at the same time, and I enjoy playing someone for whom those things coexist. It's also a sort of family of collaborators that has developed and solidified over the years, and I really enjoy working and collaborating with those people. So that's a part of it, too. You know, it's nice to keep that family together and alive.”
It cannot be denied that each and every character in the series has added to the overall intrigue of the show. As this series shows us that Dexter survives the gunshot in New Blood, Clyde Phillips told The Hollywood Reporter,
“As we will learn at the beginning of Resurrection, if Dexter had been shot on a summer’s day, he would have died. But he was shot in zero-degree temperature in the snow. He didn’t bleed out and they were able to save him. That’s how we were able to resurrect him.”
