The show takes place nearly a decade after the end of the original series and is set after Dexter vanishes. Hall reprise his role as Dexter Morgan, and it also features Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, and several other stars.

After Paramount+ with Showtime released a teaser in late April, the teaser also came with a release date that confirmed that Dexter: Resurrection will be released on July 11, 2025. The series will premiere on that date on Paramount+ with Showtime, with its first two episodes streaming when it premieres. The remaining episodes will be released every week, with there set to be a total of 10 episodes.

Set around a decade after Dexter Morgan faked his death and vanished, he is now living in a small snow-covered town. Dexter has managed to control his violent urges and keep the Dark Passenger under control and buried during that time. However, his hand is forced after a series of local events take place and he is forced to chase his teenage son Harrison to New York. Not only that, Angel Batista is hot on their trail and has chased them from Miami.
