Will Charisma Carpenter return for the Buffy reboot? Here’s what she revealed

As the Buffy reboot is in the works, new developments have been surfacing. One of those exclusive news items is Charisma Carpenter’s update regarding her potentially reprising the role of Cordelia in the Buffy Reboot.

In a new TikTok Video, the actress addressed the rumor and revealed that she is not part of the reboot series in any capacity. She said:

"Hey, I get asked this a lot: ‘Are you doing the reboot? I am not in the reboot. I am not in the pilot. I don’t even know if the show has been picked up to go to series. I assume it will be."

Buffy Reboot: Charisma Carpenter denies being part of the spinoff series

Carpenter played the role of Cordelia Chase in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and appeared in three seasons. She was the known queen bee of the High School and was a cheerleader. Initially portrayed as a selfish character, Cordelia transformed over the seasons, eventually helping the Scooby gang fight the evil supernatural beings.

After Buffy, she reprised her role in the spinoff series, Angel, where her character was more empathetic and grounded than in the original series. However, she later died in the final season of the series. However, fans were still hopeful to see Carpenter appearing in the Buffy Reboot.

Further, there were also numerous rumors about her returning due to her new Buffy rewatch podcast named The Bitch Is Back, which some took as a hint of her return. However, in the same TikTok video, the actress talked about this as well and said:

"It was not intended to sound coded in any kind of way, alluding to the fact that I was admitting to being in the reboot. People were also then commenting, ‘Oh is this… Are you saying?’ like it was an easter egg à la Taylor Swift. Not at all."

She added:

"I have not had a conversation with any of the powers that be to include Cordelia at this point."

While we might not get to see Cordelia in the Buffy Reboot, just like the fans, the actress was also hopeful of returning to the Buffy universe. In an earlier IGN interview, Carpenter had shared:

"I am so excited for fans, and I know it will be fantastic because of who’s involved. To see this actually happen for the fans makes me thrilled. I am so hopeful to be included, for Cordelia to be a part of this new iteration."

However, there is no news of Crapenter reprising her role in the Buffy reboot.

The Buffy reboot has been preparing for a pilot at Hulu, which Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao will direct from a script written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman.

Other than Sarah Michelle Gellar reprising her role, Buffy Reboot will also see a new slayer, Ryan Kiera Armstrong. In addition to Armstrong, Ava Jean, Jack Cutmore-Scott, Sarah Bock, and Faly Rakotohavana have also joined the show.
