Actor Dante Basco, who is known for voicing Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender, recently expressed his belief that he can return as a voice actor at Fan Expo Chicago. Dante Basco did so at the Fan Expo panel last week, when ScreenRant reporter Joe Deckelmeier asked Basco about the possibility of his return to voice a character in a future Avatar project.
To this question, the Zuko voice actor revealed that he was indeed open to returning to voice a character in a future project. This isn't surprising, considering that after voicing Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Bosco returned to voice another character in the sequel series, The Legend of Korra.
What did Avatar: The Last Airbender say about returning to the franchise?
As mentioned before, actor Dante Bosco appeared in a Fan Expo Chicago panel on Friday, August 15, 2025. In that panel, Deckelmeier brought up the actor's association with Nickelodeon's Avatar franchise, which at this point is 20 years old. Joe Deckelmeier asked Bosco:
"Dante, you played Zuko and his grandson General Iroh in [Legend of] Korra. Would you be open to continuing that family line in future projects like [Avatar] Seven Havens?"
Hearing this question, the Avatar: The Last Airbender's Zuko's voice actor responded positively, saying that while he may skip lending his voice in an animated Avatar project, he is open to voicing in a future project. Dante Bosco's exact words were:
"The voice of the Fire Nation sometimes gets passed down [through] generations. It may skip a generation, but it might come back."
Hearing this, Deckelmeier asked this:
"So you're saying there's a chance."
Basco did not answer the question, but it seems that the Zuko voice actor might indeed join the Avatar franchise if something turns up. He has already done that in the sequel series The Legend of Korra. In The Legend of Korra, Basco voiced General Iroh, Fire Lord Zuko's grandson.
What is next for the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise?
As Netflix continues to move forward with its live-action interpretation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, that is not the only project from this universe. This February, on the day of the show's 20th anniversary, with Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko's involvement. Titled "Avatar: Seven Havens", the series is headlined by earthbending twins.
Seven Havens promises to be darker than the previous two series, as the world is destroyed. It is set in:
“A world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”
Would you be open to Dante Bosco returning to Nickelodeon's Avatar universe? In case you haven't seen the animated shows, the beloved series is available on several streaming platforms.
