The Concluding moments of The Penguin sets up The Batman: Part II. Colin Farrell's Oz has emerged victorious as he is the king of Gotham's underworld after he has Cristin Milioti's Sofia Gigante/Falcone institutionalized in Arkham. However, Oz's moment of victory is undercut as Gotham's night sky lights up with the Bat-Signal, setting up the sequel to 2022's The Batman.
Now, if Internet scooper Jeff Sneider is to be believed, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti might be reprising their respective The Penguin roles for The Batman: Part II. It is worth noting that both Oz and Sofia are alive in the closing minutes of the finale, meaning they could appear in the sequel, which is scheduled to release for now in October 2027.
According to Jeff Sneider, The Penguin's Oz and Sofia are returning The Batman: Part II:
YouTuber John Rocha and Jeff Sneider on their 15 August 2025 episode of The Hot Mic discussed how The Penguin will connect to The Batman: Part II. Rocha had a more assured tone that Farrell would be returning for the 2027 sequel. However, it should be noted that just because the scooper was assured in his tone does not mean that the Irish actor's return is for the sequel is official.
When Sneider asked whether Farrell would be returning for The Batman: Part II, Rocha responded with "Yes, that's the rumor". Then they went on to discuss Cristin Milioti's possible return. When Rocha pointed out that Milioti's Sofia was the breakout star of the acclaimed HBO Max show, Sneider responded with a "There you go". Hearing this, When Rocha probed Sneider further, the latter said:
"Hey, I hear things, I- you know, who knows? I'm not saying anything because I don't need [a] f***ing millionaire CEO [probably James Gunn] coming after me, telling everyone I'm a liar. So, I'm not going to say anything anymore, I'm just going to ask the question."
As the filming of The Batman: Part II is scheduled to begin in 2026, rumors are ciruculating the internet regarding the plot details and characters of the sequel to the 2022 blockbuster. Then, the 2024 spin-off show The Penguin, wowved viewers and critics even further. To this day, fans have been wondering if the HBO will be greenlighting the series for a season 2.
Will the "OZ" Cobb series be renewed for a second season?
As mentioned before before, as of now, the HBO hasn't renewed the series for a second season. Channing Dungey, who is the chairman of the Warner Bros. Television Group addressed the possibility of a season 2 in a Variety interview published in August 11, 2025. Her exact words were:
"The main focus right now for Matt [Reeves] is getting the movie underway, and that seems to be going along very well. I think he and Lauren [Lefranc] have batted around a couple of different ideas. So I would say that it’s absolutely possible. We want to do it if it’s right and all of the things come together in the right way. But there’s nothing specific to share at the moment."
