Will there be an Unforgotten Series 7? Renewal status and other details, explored 

ITV's Unforgotten has emerged as one of the most captivating crime dramas lately. Each season has revealed another cold case and kept audiences invested in the narrative. The show excels in its balance of emotional storytelling and elaborate mysteries that demonstrate so much more than the crime.

Viewers have remained loyal from season 1, awaiting the subsequent developments of the story. After the sensational ending of Series 6, fans are left pondering what is next! Will DCI Jessica James and DI Sunny Khan be back without justice served, or is this the end of the story?

That's probably the biggest question on everybody's mind, and who knows the answer! Is there going to be an Unforgotten Series 7? The answer is that ITV is all set for another chapter of the show, but an exact release date is still not confirmed.

This means that the characters will return in Series 7, and ITV has yet to announce a confirmed release date.

How things went in Unforgotten Series 6: A quick recap

Fans of Unforgotten Season 6 on ITV were on a rollercoaster of emotions, with their beloved Cassie Stuart dying in the previous chapter. The series then had DCI Jess James step into the lead role. She was not an immediate hit with the audience or the team.

It was understandable as it was a big change from Cassie, a character we had grown to love and trust during our time with her. The season's case centred on the discovery of a body in a house in West London. The victim, a young man here, had seemingly been murdered decades earlier.

And four members of the investigation team, all of whom lived normal lives, were connected to the original murder investigation by the evidence. All four suspects retained secrets which slowly began to be revealed.

What could an Unforgotten Series 7 explore?

Unforgotten will return for Series 7, and there will be more of the same mix of a complicated cold case investigation intertwined with very personal stories. That is what had worked for the show so well.

It had kept the audience glued to the dual layers of intrigue and goings on. One possibility that the writers would likely consider is continuing Jessica James' (Ruth Bradley) character development. She would have faced great stress in Series 6, juggling her professional obligations with a messy private life.

There's still so much to discover about her style of leadership relative to Cassie's. In addition, her relationship with DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) is key to the series. Sunny would have to deal with his loss of Cassie and moving forward with a new colleague in Jessica, though he likely hasn't finished grieving.
