If we had to name two things that Bryton James does well, it’s portraying Devon Winters on The Young and the Restless and keeping his private life private. But there’s one personal fact that the actor can’t hide today: it’s his birthday!
Bryton James of The Young and the Restless
On The Young and the Restless, Bryton James has been playing the role of Devon Hamilton Winters since 2004, but his acting career began when he was just two years old.
Despite his fame (or more likely, because of it), there are random opportunities to know about James’ personal life online. But what we do know of his past year is that he’s given his time, joining costars such as Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin), Sean Dominic (Nate Hastings), and Conner Floyd (ex-Chance Chancellor) at charity events and fundraisers hosted by Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) everywhere from L.A. to Toronto.
The show's historic 13,000th episode was centered around James’ character. It was that episode that Devon and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) married at the newly rebuilt Newman ranch main house, a replica of the original set.
James also participated in the first crossover between The Young and the Restless, and CBS’ newest daytime serial, Beyond the Gates just last week. In the landmark episode, Devon Hamilton, a music producer, came from Genoa City with an offer of a recording deal for Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) and her singing group, The Articulettes.
James’ personal life may be somewhat private, but many of those in it he also knows from his Y&R family. James has shared that co-star and Y&R-sister Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) is one of his best friends. Not only do the two share the screen (and have practically grown up together) on The Young and the Restless, but they also met in 1996 when Khalil made a guest appearance on Family Matters, the show that first made James famous.
Another close friend that James met through the show is Daniel Goddard (ex-Cane Ashby, Y&R; Professor Dalton, GH). The two friends are also business partners, creating an app called BILDBOARD a few years ago, and currently working together on another social networking app called dysko. The company explains, “whether you're on campus, at a convention, or exploring a new city, dysko helps you dyskover who’s around and what you have in common, then start chatting—instantly.”
Soap Central wishes Bryton James a very happy birthday today, and we look forward to seeing what’s in store for Devon Winters as well.
