The 48-year-old’s obituary names Brittney Marie Jones as the “beautiful and loving partner in life and business.” The obituary further revealed that Blackstock and Marie Jones:

"Started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.”

On Marie Jones' LinkedIn, she stated that she was Kelly Clarkson’s former assistant from 2016 to 2020. Clarkson married Brandon Blackstock in 2013 and, later, filed for a divorce in 2020.

The obituary also revealed that Brandon was living in Montana with Marie Jones at the time of his death:

“After more than 20 years in the music business, Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live,” the obituary read. “He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana.”

Brittney Marie Jones reportedly became an Executive Management Assistant for Blackstock but continued to manage the day-to-day affairs and artist schedule of Kelly Clarkson.

By June 2020, Marie Jones had transitioned into the executive assistant role for V Bar B Cartle Co., a ranch owned by Blackstock in Montana. According to Page Six, Marie Jones was previously married to drummer Greg Goode LaPoint, and the couple celebrated their first marriage anniversary on Instagram in September 2021 via a carousel of photos.

The news outlet further reported that while details of the duo’s marriage remain unclear, LaPoint seems to have moved on to another woman, Arika Vanessa. The duo has reportedly been dating since February.

Marie Jones’ father reportedly posted an emotional tribute for Blackstone on Facebook, describing him as his daughter’s “soulmate.” A part of his post read:

"Yesterday we lost a good man, Brandon Blackstock, my daughter’s soulmate, and I considered him my son.”
