Beyond the Bar Episode 5 recap: The weight of Hyo-min's first trial
Titled "Salieri's Monologue", Episode 5 of K-drama Beyond the Bar intrigues viewers with conflict right from the start-a painting worth millions becomes the territory for a heated dispute between two erstwhile friends who now stand on different sides of the tussle.
One person argues that she purchased it as a lucky score from a flea market, while the other woman is adamant that it is a priceless work by a famous artist. The situation becomes even more complex when Hyo-min's adult twin sister enters the scene.
The sister is portrayed as having incredible strength despite being deaf. She lip-reads perfectly and brings the issue to Hyo-min because her friend is going to court for fraud against the artist. While the legal situation is shifting, the drama opens its emotional aperture to Yoon and his ex-wife.
Their conversation in Episode 5 of Beyond the Bar is raw and devastating. She explains, she ultimately realized she wanted to be a mother and that her choice not to have children with him was not a reflection of him as a person.
Seok-hoon is obviously upset. Even after finally hearing her reasoning, the damage done in the past relationship cannot be undone. And on top of that, his ex-wife blamed him because he did not continue the relationship. If he had continued, he could have been the child's father.

Breaking through pain and finding a big win in Beyond the Bar Episode 5
As the Beyond the Bar episode continues, Hyo-min finally steps into the courtroom. She is accompanied by her co-associates and Seok-hoon, but this time she won't receive his help.
The case begins, and Hyo-min and her rival begin the questioning. The lawyer from the Lee and Seo firm cleverly crafted her questions, which scared Hyo-min's client. Though she's the one whose art has been copied, the young woman fails to answer the question.
As things go out of control, Hyo-min asks for a break and then learns that his client is a 21-year-old woman, but her mind is that of a 13-year-old kid. She's intellectually weak, but is a gifted artist.
Hyo-min calms her down and assures her client that she will prove that the painting is her original work, and the famous artist is the one who copied it. The trial continues, and Hyo-min asks the artist if there's a hidden picture inside the painting.
He denies. Then Hyo-min asks her client if there's a hidden picture, to which she says "yes". She drew her father's face, which is only visible when you throw light on it. This way, Hyo-min wins the complex case, with Lee and Seo once again being defeated by Yullim.
Beyond the Bar Episode 5 justifies its title by showing rivalry and jealousy among the famous artists. He couldn't accept the fact that a young and intellectually weak woman made a drawing better than him.
